What is a freight lift system?
A freight lift system is a complete lifting system that carries loads between floors inside a cabin. It is used in factories, warehouses, workshops, supermarkets and commercial premises to move palletised, boxed or loose loads safely between floors. Beta Crane installs the system turnkey, from engineering to installation: we supply the motor, cabin, rails, supporting structure and controls from one source.
If you only need a motor replacement or want to renew an existing system, see our freight lift motor page.
What does the system include?
- Cabin: made to suit the load and dimensions; the floor finish is chosen for the type of load.
- Guide rails: keep the cabin moving smoothly and without jolts at every floor.
- Supporting structure: if the building has no shaft, a steel tower (lift structure) is built; if there is a shaft, the system is adapted to it.
- Freight lift motor: our own motor with an electromagnetic safety brake.
- Controls and safety: floor buttons, upper and lower limit switches, emergency stop and landing door safety devices.
Where is it used?
- Moving materials and semi-finished goods between floors in factories and workshops
- Carrying palletised and boxed loads in warehouses
- Carrying stock to storage areas in supermarkets, restaurants and shops
- Lifting loads to mezzanines and platforms
Choosing the right system
Capacity, cabin dimensions, number of floors and intensity of use determine the system.
Freight lifts are for goods only; people must not ride in the cabin. As lifting equipment, the system must be inspected periodically.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a freight lift system and a freight lift motor?
The freight lift motor is the drive unit of the system. The freight lift system is the complete lift, delivered in working order, including the cabin, guide rails, supporting structure and controls together with the motor.
Can a freight lift be installed if the building has no lift shaft?
Yes. Without a shaft, the system runs on a steel tower built inside or outside the building. The suitability of the tower and connections is calculated in the project.
How much can a freight lift carry?
Beta Crane freight lift systems are installed between 500 kg and 5 t, depending on the project. The motor is chosen for the payload plus the cabin weight.
What information is needed for a quotation?
The payload, cabin dimensions, total lifting height, number of floors (stops), whether there is a shaft and the site location. A few photos of the installation spot also help a lot.
